This describes how to easily implement SMS Text messaging in your mlm leads prospecting even when you don’t own a smartphone.
Earlier we wrote why we thought you should consider sending sms text messages to your hard-to-get-a-hold-of mlm leads. Later we wrote an article describing how well text messaging was working for many when it came to connecting with mlm lead prospects.
In today’s blog article, we’re going to outline an easy-to-use method of sending sms text messages to your mlm leads, even if you don’t have a smartphone.
To use this prospecting reaching out method, you must first check to see if your prospect’s phone number belongs to a mobile device, landline or VOIP line.
Check The Phone Number
I use WhitePages.com to do a reverse lookup on the phone number. The reverse lookup will tell me whether the phone number is associated with a mobile device, landline or VOIP phone service.
See the example below of a phone number lookup:
The reverse lookup will tell you whether the phone belongs to a mobile carrier, landline or VOIP line. Unfortunately you cannot send text messages to those numbers; only to mobile numbers.
If the phone number belongs to a mobile carrier, that mobile carrier is typically listed on the page. The example above shows “Verizon Wireless” as the mobile carrier.
Now that you know the phone number belongs to a mobile deivce, you can..
A) create and send individual text messages from your smartphone to your prospects, or
B) create and send individual email messages from your desktop computer, that then get delivered as text messages to your prospects
Send Text Messages From Your Mobile Device
Method A above is pretty self-explanatory. You use your smartphone to create a text message where the “recipient” is your prospect’s mobile number. Once you’ve specified your recipient, type in the body of the text message.
If your mobile device has “copy/paste” functionality, you can save time by copying the body of the message, then paste it into the next text message that you prepare to send.
Many feel that sending individual text messages from your mobile device can be a challenging especially when it comes to using the small keyboard on your mobile device. If you feel the same, try sending emails that get received as text messages instead.
Send Email-To-Text Messages From Your Desktop
If you have a lot of text messages to send out, you might save time by sending emails that will be delivered as text messages. Here’s how you do that..
1) Do a Reverse Lookup on the phone number. See the description detailed above. Find the mobile carrier associated with the phone number. Note that mobile carrier name.
2) Prepare your email messages. You’ll be sending your emails to a SMS-to-email gateway. To prepare the email address, just substitute a 10-digit cell number for ‘number’ for each carrier listed below:
- AT&T: number@txt.att.net or number@mms.att.net
- T-Mobile: number@tmomail.net
- Verizon: number@vtext.com or number@vwpix.com
- Sprint: number@messaging.sprintpcs.com or number@pm.sprint.com
- Virgin Mobile: number@vmobl.com
- Tracfone: number@mmst5.tracfone.com
- Metro PCS: number@mymetropcs.com
- Boost Mobile: number@myboostmobile.com
- Cricket: number@sms.mycricket.com
- Nextel: number@messaging.nextel.com

Then their reply would show up in your email inbox like that shown below:
Email-to-Text Messaging Notes
When using the email-to-text messaging, there are a couple of things to note:
1) Don’t include a subject line. It consumes part of your text message and doesn’t really delivery any added value, and..
2) Keep your message short and to the point. Long messages will likely get clipped or shortened upon delivery.
What to Say in Your MLM Lead Text Messaging
I had a reader write last week asking what they should say in their text message. My response is that they should be direct and to the point. That’s how most people use text messaging anyway, right? Use the text message to initiate the conversation and see where it goes from there.
I would use the text message as shown above in the example. Ask the mlm leads prospect if they’re serious about making money from home, or not. If they’re serious and write back, use the text exchange to investigate further or to direct them to either a mobile optimized lead capture page.
If they’re not serious, it won’t matter what you say. They’ll likely not reply so why worry about it.
Another SMS-to-Email Messaging Resource
While I haven’t tested this service out, I’m told of a service called txtDrop. It allows you to use a website to initiate the message. Just fill in your email address, your prospect’s phone number and the body of your text message, then hit “Send”. They’ll send your test message for you. Nothing more you need to do.
Again, I have not tested this service out so consumer beware. Test it out yourself before using it live in your mlm leads prospecting.
