When it comes to MLM Leads prospecting, can you accept “No” as the answer from your prospect?
I was reading an article about “Shark Tank” investor and Dallas Mavericks basketball team owner Mark Cuban. In that article, Cuban talks about the need for entrepreneurs to accept “no” as an answer when prospects have made it clear that they have no interest in what you’re selling.
In the article, Cuban points out 3 negative consequences of an entrepreneur’s excessive insistence:
1) You’re Wasting Your Time and Theirs
Cuban tells himself “Every no gets me closer to a yes.” He goes onto describe that you need to move on so that you can spend your time talking to a prospect that may say “yes” instead.
2) Damage To Your Image
The more insistent you are to turn a “no” into a “yes”, the more desperate you appear. This is bad for both you, the product/service and business you represent.
3) Fostering Fear and Laziness
Cuban says that as you continue to try and change a “no” to a “yes”, your prospecting posture moves from a position of power, to that of weakness. You must remind yourself that you have an in-demand product/service and business, but that it isn’t for everyone. Nor do you want everyone just the same.
Let’s face it, being an entrepreneur isn’t for everyone. It requires a certain amount of risk, and self-discipline to be successful. Not everyone is equipped to handle that. And that’s okay. You’re just looking for the ones that can handle it like you.
