The number of text messages sent on cell phones exceeds the number of phone calls placed on cell phones.
High Open Rates.
While the industry average is 85%, a number of SMS text messaging marketers have reported message “open” rates varying between 95 and 100%. That means 95 to 100% of all recipients viewed the marketing message.
Automated Messaging.
SMS text message services allow users to create prewritten messages that drip onto contacts over time. This is similar to the drip email campaigns that we’ve all grown accustomed to.
More Personal, More Likely to Be Read.
Let’s face it, there aren’t a lot of people sending text messages to your cell phone compared to the amount of email you get to your email inbox.
Moreover, the only way for someone to send you a text message is for them to have your cell phone number. To get that number, you had to give them your number (you know them and have implied permission to them to send you messages), or you had to “subscribe” to the person or business to receive their messages.
Moreover, a recent study by Rettie, Grandcolas & Deakins found that nearly 86% of all text users felt “more positively towards the brand.. and they claimed they were more likely to make a purchase.”
Short and Sweet.
Unlike email which can often be verbose, text messaging tends to be short and to the point.
Timely.
Text messages are delivered virtually instantaneously. They are a great way to get a quick reminder out to a list of people. Since most people tend to have their cell phones with them most, if not all the time, chances are that they’ll receive a text message long before they’ll read an email message.
Multi-Media Messages.
Text messages can also include multi-media. They can include graphics or video to engage the reader even more.
You Can Make Purchases.
Ebay already allows you to make purchase via text messaging. The recent disaster in Haiti saw people sending money donations via text messaging. Imagine having text messaging available to you, your prospects and your MLM or network marketing business!
Launch a Web Page.
Users can provide links in text messages that can be clicked to open web pages on a cell phone or mobile device.
More Likely to Reply.
Text message readers are more likely to reply to a text message than they are to reply to a voicemail message, letter, fax or email.
Cheap. Easy to Use.
SMS text message is relative inexpensive. They are easy to send and even easier to receive.
As you can see from the list above, there are some real advantages of employing SMS text messaging in your marketing.
So… will SMS text messaging play a role in mlm lead generation and mlm lead prospecting?

I couldn’t agree more with Text Messaging being the MLM Lead Prospecting Giant of the Future. In fact, in a round about way I have already recruited a few people to my team via text messages (however, there was an initial phone call first).
People carry their cell phones with them everywhere they go…and do not hesitate anymore to use it anywhere and everywhere.
And because there are a limited number of characters allowed per text message, the message is short and to the point, and weeds out the interested prospects from the non-interested prospects immediately.
