For thousands of years, it has been believed that the fortunes of men and women move in cycles. Astrological cycles that is. In ancient times, the great Wheel of Fortune was depicted. The wheel – eternally spinning – would spill off winners at the top while bearing up the wretches beneath… giving them their time in the limelight before they too were dumped. People knew their days were numbered, but they didn’t know their number.
We’ve known for hundreds of years that the cycles of the moon and sun regulate the ocean’s tides. But their affect on people hasn’t been so well understood.
Psychologist Arnold Lieber of the University of Miami did a study of the full-moon lunacy. They collected homicide data in Dade County over a 15 year period (1,887 murders). They matched the homicides with the phases of the moon. They found that homicides rose and fell with the moon cycles for the entire 15 year period of the study. As the full moon approached, the murder rate rose sharply. The study was repeated for Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) in Ohio. Their results were the same.
So what’s going on during a full moon?
How does a full moon affect your mlm lead prospecting?
First off, let me say that I have no idea what happens with people during a full moon. But over the years of being in business serving thousands of customers, there are two things that I’ve noticed during a full moon:
- Prospects get cranky. They’re more likely to be rude during a full moon.
- Distributors get cranky. They’re more likely to complain about prospects being cranky during a full moon.
Call my information anecdotal but I’ve noticed this over the past 16 years of marketing. I see it EVERY MONTH.
But am I the only one that’s noticed this?
Several years ago I had a customer that was a top producer in Ameriplan. He told me that he tracked the moon phases for this very reason. He too found that prospects were cranky during certain moon cycles, especially during a full moon.
So what did he do?
He said that he only prospected during certain days of the month. He spent the rest of the time training his new distributors. That way he was only talking to prospects when they would be more favorable towards him.
How did he track the moon phases so he knew when to prospect and train?
I recall that he used a fishing calendar or almanac to track when he would prospect or train that month. If I remember… good fishing days were bad for prospecting. But I may have that turned around. It’s been awhile.
Is that extreme?
Maybe. Maybe not. I guess it depends on you and whether you believe that the moon makes a difference in people’s moods or not.
But one thing I know for sure… I personally don’t prospect during a full moon. I take the day off from mlm lead prospecting. I spend the day doing the other things that will grow my mlm business.

Hello , When I work in a nursing home before I retried ,
when there was a full moon , The people in the nursing
home would go wild. And we could always tell when it was a full moon , now about prospect I don’t know , I haven’t
paid that much attention to it . But I believe in what you are saying. But will be watching , My dad was a great believer
in the almanac. He watch the signs for every thing ,

People just naturally blow off moon cycles because our cultural is far removed from the agriculture of yesteryear. Back then you had to pay attention to the moon cycles or it would cost you your food to live on.
I have watched farmers and ranchers, who were never taught such things, cut their hay in the wrong moon phases and their hay gets ruined.
The greatest weatherman on the planet is Ken Ring from New Zealand. He can predict weather better than anyone and he did not learn his methods from modern schools of meteorology. He learned the moon cycles and the relationship with the sun. We are not just talking monthly moon cycles but 250 year weather cycles.
So yes, I know that people are affected a lot by moon phases. I believe it is wise not to prospect during the full moon. (The effect is more than just one day.)
My wife long ago worked in a mental hospital. She said that anyone that did not believe in the moons’ effect would become a believer real quick in that place.
I very much believe that the moon does have something to do with people; and it just makes cents not to do any prospecting. It’s all about making the best of your time in this rat race so… when the odds are highly against you play a different game.
