I hear a lot of people talking about using personal blogs for SEO purposes to build their mlm business. Is it really possible for you to generate mlm leads using SEO tactics? Is it feasible to think that your downline can do the same?
Here’s where the question is coming from..
For nearly 7 years, mlmleads.com was the #1 organic search result whenever you did a google search for the term “mlm leads”. For nearly 7 years, we owned that search term. It brought us a lot of business over the years with people looking for leads.
Over the past year, I took my eyes off our search ranking. The site slipped to #3 organically. Later it dropped down to #7. That was the low point.
Most people would love to have a Page 1, #7 organic listing. But the fact of the matter is that most people click on the top 3 organic terms. So being #7 wasn’t doing much for our business.
To get my #1 Google listing back, I spent the next 100 days rebuilding the website from an SEO standpoint. Many of the tools I used were very niche specific. Most people wouldn’t know how to use the tools that I used just to evaluate my site, much less know what to do with the information. I worked day and night for 100 days to get my search listing back. It was hard work but the hard work paid off.
As of this writing, we’re back in the #1 Google position for “mlm leads” once again.
As I reflect back on the last 100 days, I ask myself: Is it realistic to think that an average distributor can do what I just did? Can the average mlm distributor realistically compete with 10s of 1,000s of other distributors around the world that are also writing on their blogs in hopes of generating their own mlm leads? How realistic is it to think that they can land in the Google top 3 organic results for any “make money from home” search term?
A lot people talk about “how” to do this, but I have yet to see it happen.
I contend that it is virtually impossible for an mlm distributor to reach those sorts of organic search results. I did it with the term “mlm leads” which is highly competitive with only 5 or 6 real competitors. I didn’t have 10s of 1,000s of other people competing for the same search term.
I’m not saying it can’t happen, but I believe it to be extremely difficult to build an mlm business on SEO. Maybe I’m wrong.
