Todd that was a great comment you made there about sorting. I feel that a lot of times my customers are prepared to pitch their company, products or services. I sense Todd, that’s not how you operate. Is that true Todd?

Pitching… It’s not like I’ve never used the term “pitch”. Obviously that’s kind of a standard term we use for presenting information.

Really what I’m looking to do is to get on the phone with someone and quickly identify by using my ears whether or not this is a person that A) truly is looking for a way to make money from home and B) whether this is the type of person I’m looking for.

So it’s not about me. It’s not about me trying to pitch everyone I get on the telephone. It’s more about me qualifying an individual for my time.

Before, I just used to talk to everybody and everybody that would hear me out. That just didn’t prove to be effective. So thereafter I had to change my attitude towards who I would invest my time towards me being in control. And that is essentially is the case in any aspect of recruiting in network marketing. It’s the person that is recruiting – the person that initiated the phone call – that needs to maintain control of the conversation at all times in the process.

I suspect Todd that through your education over the years that you’re probably spending less time with more people and having greater sponsoring results. Is that really what’s happened for you?

That’s absolutely what’s happened. It’s funny that people look at me and think “Oh, I could never do what this guy does…” or “He must never get No’s… he’s so polished…” You know, it’s not about that. It’s really about me simply listening and paying attention to what’s going on in the conversation. And it’s about moving through prospects.

Working network marketing leads is a sorting business.

I use my ears. Does this person sound like the kind of person I want in my business. Do they have some energy? Do they have something going on? Are they really saying “Yes, I’m looking?” And once I can identify those few things, then I’ll spend a little bit of time with that person. And then if they don’t have some of the basic things that I’m looking for, then I’ll just move onto the next lead. I’ll put a black through their name and move on. That’s fine.

Too many people get too caught up on “I gotta take these 100 business opportunity leads… I gotta make sure I ring them dry… I gotta make sure I can get all I can out of them and hang out with them.”

That’s not the case with me. If I go through 100 mlm leads, I’m looking at about 20 to 25 conversations out of 100 that are legitimate good conversations. The other 80 I could care less about. Most people think about the 80 leads instead.

Forget about the 80 leads. You’re only looking for the small percentage of people that are going to do it anyhow.

If you understand how to work through and sort through people, you’re not going to worry about the 80.

Why?

Because you’re going to find so much business in the 20 that it’s not going to even matter.

Today I have on the line Todd Falcone. Todd are you there with me please?

Right here Enrique, how are you doing?

I’m doing great today Todd. It’s great to have you on the line with us today Todd.

Todd you and I met just a few weeks ago and have known each other for a number of years now. We met in Dallas, TX at a seminar there. An interesting thing about you Todd that a lot of people don’t know is that you have spent literally years and years working leads on the telephone. Your has been primarily in the cold market. Is that true about you Todd?

That is definitely correct. At least for the past 14 of my last 17 years have been working in the cold market. I went thru my warm market very, very quickly. And once I did, I had to start working in the cold market network marketing leads. So yes, that is a true statement.

Now… one of the companies that you used to work leads with in the past called you – and correct me if I’m wrong – “Master Trainer of the Decade”. How did that title come about?

I’ve even forgot about that. That’s funny because I have a picture on my wall with the plaque.

Yes, that’s correct.

I guess I came about receiving that award because of my commitment during my tenure with that company for teaching people how to work business opportunity leads effectively. I was the one guy that was there more often and trained more frequently. I guess I was requested more by the distributor force more than anyone else to hear from about my philosophy with regards to working leads.

You say philosophy. That’s interesting. I talk to folks about working leads and I rarely hear someone say “My philosophy on working mlm leads”. How would you break that down for our listeners?

Well first of all, it has to do with expectations.

I think overall in network marketing begins with expectations. Often times people come in – including myself – I don’t want to say overly high expectations but higher expectations than what was being delivered upon or allowed myself to deliver in terms of results.

I came in thinking I was going to be making $10,000 a month in a few months and I wasn’t even close to that. So when I began to work my leads, it was funny – I spent a concentrated 11 years working leads. Probably over 90% of all the people that I enrolled into my businesses during that period of time were directly from leads. And I had to adopt a certain philosophy to obtain results.

The first time I started dialing leads I figured that everyone that responded was going to want to talk to me and signup. And so I ended up hovering over my network marketing leads and hanging onto them. I was chasing a lot of people without a lot of results. And I really began to understand the importance of using my ears to pay attention to what I have on the phone as a prospect. And using some of my gut and my intuition to determine whether or not to continue on the phone with them or move on. I really began to understand the true principles behind sorting through people rather than hovering over them and hanging onto them hoping that they would join my business.

Will Real Time Redirected work for you?

I don’t know.

Ultimately you’ll have to find out for yourself whether they do or not.

The biggest issue I have with Real Time Redirected Leads is this:

A) They’re costly. You can spend $5 to $10 per Real Time Redirected Lead. Compare that to $3.30 to $2.59 for the Real Time which I consider to be higher quality and more responsive.

B) Lower quality. I personally view them as a real time “suspect” lead… except they cost a lot more.

C) High Cost per Signup. I’ve run the cost and conversion numbers with many of my customers that have tried this type of lead in the past. All have reported cost per distributor signup in the $120+ range when working that type of lead.

D) Curiosity Seekers. I’ve found them to be predominately Curiosity Seekers instead of Seekers.

When I’m for distributors, I’m looking for real people that are real serious about making money from home. And I’m looking for the lowest cost per distributor signup. And that’s why I don’t offer Real Time Redirected Leads. I don’t believe in them. I really think they cost too much for what they ultimately provide my customers. At the present, I can provide my customers a more cost effective solution with the Real Time Pre-Screened Leads offered at the site.

I think you’ll agree once you try them both for comparison.

Here’s why Real Time Redirect fail to meet my expectations:

1. Unmet Browsing Expectations. The prospect has a certain expectation of what information they’re going to receive once they submit their information via a web form. Once they hit the submit button, they’re redirected to the distributor’s website. There the prospect makes a split second decision on whether to spend time on the site or not. The vast majority of visitors will leave the site within seconds or minutes. You’re $5 to $10 lighter for the split second visit.

Where did they go?

They move onto some other site to fill out another form to learn more.

2. Curious, Not Serious. By now you’ve heard my lead descriptions at the site. You know that I call this type of lead a “suspect”, instead of a “prospect”. They’re a suspect to me because they’re simply a person that has filled out a web form and hit submit. Since we haven’t talked to them on the telephone, we don’t know if they’re a real person or really serious about making money from home. Maybe the daughter filled the form out for the Mother… the Mother for the Father.

Let’s face it, anybody can fill out a form out online, right? – the leads that we’ve telephone verified – those are what I really consider to be because we’ve talked to them and have verified that they are real people and that they really are looking to make money from home.

3. One-Click Redirects. These are probably the worst of the bunch because they yield the worst results. This type of real time redirected lead is generated by a “vendor” sending out emails to prospects. The emails create enough curiosity from the prospects that a number of them click-thru the emails to learn more. When that happens a lead is “generated”. The prospect is redirected to a replicated site to learn more. At the same time, they’re subscribed automatically to the distributor’s autoresponder. The distributor then has the prospect’s name in their database for follow-up.

Every couple of weeks I’ll get a call from someone inquiring about Real Time Redirected . And by redirected, I’m talking about where the person fills out a landing page and then is redirected to your page as the “thank you” page.

People seem to like the concept of this type of lead. They figure what better lead to have in hand than a person that has already seen their website… a person that already knows all about their business so all they have to do is follow-up with that person on the phone to close them.

That’s a great concept.

But you and I live in the real world. And concepts don’t often become reality.

Here’s my experience Real Time Redirected …

A person fills out a landing page that describes how they can make money from home. The message is intriguing enough that the reader fills the web form out to learn more. When that prospect hits the “Submit” button on the page, their information is collected and sent to the distributor real time. At the same time, the prospect’s web browser is immediately redirected to the distributor’s web site to learn more about making money from home. While that sounds good, that’s really where things begin to fall apart.

Folks, when you start to think of your in those terms… 65 contacts to generate 13 good follow-up appointments to generate 2 to 4 [tag-tec]distributor[/tag[tec] signups… you think about your prospecting in those terms, you’re not so attached to the outcome. You know its simply the numbers that you have to go thru to get to the 2 to 4 new signups.


How fast do you want to get thru the 65 contacts that will generate 2 to 4 distributor signups?

You can take a day to get thru 65 contacts… you can take a week… you can take a month or a year. It’s up to you on how fast you want to get those signups.

Or you can condense time by going thru the 65 people faster.


It’s whatever you want to do.


So tonight we’re going to be dialing . Mike knows he needs 65 contacts to generate those signups. Mike knows that some of the people he talks to tonight will be nice. Others won’t. It won’t matter to Mike because he knows what to expect and the numbers he needs to get the signups.


So let’s get to dialing!

MLM Lead Prospecting - Realistic PRO Results Part 4


I interviewed Mike Boggs recently during a Live Call. I asked Mike what it takes to actually signup people up into his business. The following is Part 4 of that interview.I hope you enjoy it.

Great. Tonight we’re going to be dialing … and by “Pre-Screened Leads” I’m referring to a lead of a person that we’ve called and talked to on the phone. We’ve verified that the person is a real person and that they’re looking to make money from home… Real-Time means that a person has access to the lead just moments after we’ve done the screening call.

Now Mike, you’ve done a lot of tracking in your organization of this type of MLM business opportunity lead. What type of results have you seen in your organization with this type of lead?


What type of lead prospecting activity does a person have to go through to bring a person into business?

I’ll base the answer on an average of downline, crossline organization etc… We found that a person dialing leads needs to make 65 contacts.

Again, a “contact” is a person that is on a list that picks up the phone to answer. It’s a person that says “hello”. It is someone live on the other end. That is a contact. That is a tick mark towards the 65 contacts we talked about earlier.

Out of those 65 contacts, you should get 13 good follow-up appointments. That means they showed up for the follow-up call.

You have to keep track of your prospecting interviews since you don’t know when they’re going to show up when you’re dialing. Even thou you might send a prospect out the back door because you didn’t like them… that will still counts as a tick mark.

Now out of the 13 good follow-up appointments, 2 to 4 people will join your business. If 4 join, typically 2 of those will be product users only.

That’s on average.

MLM Lead Prospecting - Realistic PRO Results Part 3


I interviewed Mike Boggs recently during a recent Live Call. In that interview, I asked Mike what it takes in terms of Lead prospecting activity to actually sign up people up into business. The following video/audio is Part 3 of that interview.

What sorts of things should a person track when working MLM or business opportunity ?

A person should track…
* The number of dials they make each day
* The number of people they contact
* The number of people that answer the phone
* The number of interviews they hold
* The number of follow-up appointments they set

What I’ve identified for my team is what I call MMAC. That’s…
* Monitor.
* Maintain.
* Adjust.
* Control.

Every time someone picks up the phone, a person should make a tick mark on their notepad. That counts as a contact. It doesn’t matter what happens. Maybe the person hangs up the phone. Maybe they scream at you. It doesn’t matter. It’s a tick mark.

There should be another set of tick marks to count the number of follow-up appointments that are set. Those appointments should happen with an upline on the telephone.

Next a person should make another tick mark for those people that actually show up for the follow-up appointment on the second call.

And then of the people that showed up for the 2nd call, add a tick mark for how many of those went into your business.

It doesn’t matter if the person came in as a customer or business builder. Sometimes your customer will become your best business builder.

That’s pretty much what we do.

To give folks a bit of a benchmark… Mike how long have you been dialing cold-market leads?
8 years now.

In dialing MLM lead lists over the years, what is the most number of leads that you’ve dialed on any given day?
I’ve dialed about 350 leads in a day.

You’ve dialed that many on consecutive days, weeks, months, years? How did that work out?

I’ve dialed more than 200 leads a day. If I had time to dial more leads, I would.

When you first began to dial MLM Leads, were you good at prospecting?

Oh my goodness, no. Not at all.

I was horrible.

I was even scared to pick up the phone.

As you gained experience working leads, how did the leads begin to work for you compared to your results early on?

My “SQ” or quotient would go up as time went on. The more I dialed, the better I was at prospecting.

The better I was at prospecting, the more confident I was.

The more confident I was, the more prospects that would respond to me.

The more prospects that responded to me, the more I sponsored new customers and distributors.

That implies that you did some tracking of your prospecting results. Is that true?

Yes I did, absolutely.
